The Harmonizing Alignment Coaching Process is a unique philosophy for living which can be easily incorporated into your existing business model. In this Coach in the Spotlight series we speak to different practitioners each issue who have completed the Harmonizing Alignment Process Coach training and incorporated it into their businesses in creative and inspiring ways.
Hi Jen! Can you tell us a little about your work and why you do it?
I am a wellbeing consultant and psychotherapist. My journey into this line of work began when I was born with a malrotated colon, which caused me excruciating pain. I’ve always known what it was like to suffer, and so I felt called to help others. I’m trained in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy and Mindfulness and have also trained extensively in various systems of personal development based in neuroscience.
I work at The Restoration Yard in Dalkeith Country Park; a beautiful store, café and wellbeing space. It offers unique products, locally sourced food and – most importantly for me – it has wellbeing at its heart. We have a vibrant wellbeing space there with a range of classes and workshop, and we have also created The Sanctuary at Restoration Yard, which looks out onto one of the most beautiful oak tree woods in Scotland. This is one of the locations where I will be offering Harmonize Your Life sessions.
How did you discover the Harmonizing Alignment Process?
I had recently taken the decision to leave the corporate world to focus solely on caring professions (after years of juggling both and becoming burnt out). I used the extra time to retrain, and found increased success with my clients; however, I still felt exhausted, and frequently got minor viruses. I wasn’t sure what I was doing wrong. This is the point at which I discovered Harmonizing.
I was fortunate to know Dawn Breslin from our 5 Rhythms dance class. I could see her energy was very special, and when I learned of her personal journey and how she had created The Harmonizing System I absolutely knew it was for me.
How did the Harmonizing process impact your personal life?
I felt held, supported, encouraged and renewed by the whole process. There was space to become vulnerable, to observe and accept our own patterns as well as to learn how to skilfully lead others through the process. Everything was welcome and there was a real feeling of connection. Although I mainly work one to one, the Harmonizing group process is a powerful one and reminded me that the group is far more than the sum of its parts. I am trained as a group psychotherapist and, partly due to this experience, I am now considering leading Harmonizing groups.
How did it impact your business?
I feel a renewed vibrancy about my work and excitement about offering this work to clients. I believe that this work is what people are looking for in life right now and I know this will change lives.
What do you particularly like about the process?
I loved the emphasis on self-care and slowing down and breathing, and becoming more in tune with nature. This is something that I have found difficult in my life, and it was the missing link in all my other therapies. I also liked the fact that it combined aspects that I was familiar with, while also introducing me to new ideas about the feminine cycle and the cycles of nature.
Will you use the (HAP) tools in conjunction with other therapies, and if so how?
Absolutely. I believe that every client can live the life they dream of – it’s just a case of finding the right key to the door. Everyone is unique; so having a wide range of therapeutic approaches to draw from, as well as the exquisite beauty of the Harmonizing Alignment Process, is a recipe for success. My combination of therapies is also quite unusual and I know from experiment that clients like the way that I can combine evidence-based interventions, like CBT and Mindfulness, with different approaches, such as tapping and NLP. It’s the combination that can make the difference.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
I am very fortunate to have had the opportunity to train with such an inspiring coach and to join such a supportive and skilled Harmonizing family. Already the group that I trained with, as well as others who have trained before me, have supported me in ways I didn’t think possible.
